Ajrakh’s history across Asia

The word “ajrakh” comes from the Persian “azrak” or blue.  It refers to the indigo hue of these textiles. Ajrakh was the traditional fabric used by the various communities in Kutch. They used it for a variety of reasons as the below video shows.

In it, Dr Ismail Khatri demonstrates the multipurpose use of this fabric for turbans, prayer carpets, and even a unique “chair”.
